About the Berkley Athletic Association
The Berkley Athletic Association is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization committed to serving the youth of Berkley through athletics. We were founded in 1969 by a group of parents who saw the need to fill a need our Town's limited services could not. Since there's no Parks & Recreation Department in a town the size of Berkley, it became the domain of the people to organize, mobilize, officiate, oversee and fund the sports programs.
Over 30 years later, Berkley has nearly tripled in size but we're still a small town with no Parks & Recreation Department and a thriving citizen-sponsored sports program.
The BAA is funded through the generosity of
team and league sponsors - as well as the
dedicated fundraising of our members throughout the year. Our fees for participation in all sports are established on an at-cost-level so a player can participate in a three-month-long sport with the BAA for $70-125…a bargain by any standard.
The jewel in the BAA crown is our
Sports Complex on Anthony Street which features three softball/baseball fields and one Babe Ruth sized field. In addition, for basketball games we rent the Berkley School District's gymnasiums. For soccer, we participate as adjunct members of the
Taunton Youth Soccer League and games are held at the Taunton Soccer Complex on Route 79 and at the Martin School in East Taunton.
Support Your Children! Participate!
The best way to get to know the BAA is to
particpate! Check out our
Calendar of Events, or attend our monthly meetings. The BAA is a year round organization dedicated to youth sports and are always looking for energetic members of the community to lend their time and their skills to support and grow the activities your children will benefit from particpating in.
Meetings are the 1st Monday of each month at the Lions Club, on the Berkley Town Common on North Main St. at 8pm. Should there be a Town Meeting scheduled that evening, we meet the following Monday.
